Is it a safe country?
I am often told 'Japan is a safe country.'. Having lived in Japan for many years now, I have heard this
from my students and friends countless times. And it's true, in terms of crime Japan is very safe. However, in terms of natural disasters, Japan is one of the most dangerous countries in the
world. I love living in Japan, but there are many things to worry about!
'日本は安全な国である'とよく言われています。今まで数年間日本に住んでいて、友達や生徒さんからも、何度も日本は安全な国だと聞いています。勿論、犯罪の面では、日本は安全な国です。しかし、自然災害に関しては。日本は世界の国々の中でも、とても危険な国の一つです。日本に住むのが大好きですが、心配なことも沢山あります。
In Japan we have so many dangerous natural occurrences, typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic
eruptions, floods... It can be a very scary place to live! Having experienced the Great East Japan earthquake, I realized exactly how dangerous living in Japan can be.
日本では、様々な危険な自然災害があります。例えば、台風、地震、津波、噴火、洪水.......このように日本は時々危険なことが起きます。東日本大震災の経験でそれを実感しました。
