It’s a beautiful day today!

But just like most of you, I will be spending the day inside...again. However, one good thing is that I will be able to communicate with many students online today.

To be honest, in the past I was not very interested in teaching online lessons. I always preferred to meet people face to face. So, I was surprised when I began to realize that I actually really enjoy teaching lessons on Skype and Zoom! I didn’t think I would have as much fun as I’ve been having recently.

Teaching lessons on Skype and Zoom has a little different feeling than teaching lessons face to face, but there are many benefits to online lessons. It allows my students to learn from any place of their choosing, it allows both myself and my students to spend less time traveling from place to place. And most of all, it allows me to teach people who are not only in Sendai, but from all over Japan!

I recently began online lessons with a student from Fukuoka. I was very pleased to be contacted by someone who lives so far away from me. And it was very interesting to hear about life in Fukuoka. I hope to go there someday!
